International Children's Book Day

The theme for ICBD 2014 is Imagine Nations through Story

Since 1967, on or around Hans Christian Andersen's birthday, 2 April, International Children's Book Day (ICBD) has been celebrated to inspire a love of reading. It is promoted by IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People) which is a non profit making organisation, formed in 1953 to bring children and books together.

In 2014 it is Ireland's turn to promote International Children's Book Day.

Did you know that the national animals of Ireland are the Irish Wolfhound and the Stag or Red Deer? Maybe you could write a story about one of them?!

Kids costumes for children's books are available from our website for anyone dressing up for ICBD
